Powertrain and Specifications
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is under the hood of every 2020 Toyota RAV4, but buyers still need to make a few decisions regarding the powertrain configurations. Four-wheel drive is available at all levels of the RAV4 series, but is included in the adventures TRD Offroad and every hybrid model.
The I4 engine alone produces 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, but with the hybrid system, the RAV4 makes 219 horsepower. The additional power and efficiency of the hybrid models are a bit high at $ 2,400, but $ 1,400 of that comes from the additional all-wheel drive.
As for the EPA's estimated fuel economy, the most efficient non-hybrid RAV4 is the XLE with front-wheel drive, which combines 28 miles per gallon city, 35 MPG freeway and 30 MPG. RAV4 Adventure and TRD off-road models set orange or red accents depending on the equipment. The XSE Hybrid has a unique black-blue color scheme.
Heated front seats are available on the XLE and XLE Premium, but are standard on the Limited.
A sunroof can be offered as a package for the RAV4 XLE or Adventure, but is available as a standard tariff for the XLE Premium, Limited, XSE Hybrid and TRD Offroad. A panoramic sunroof is optional in the technology package of the XSE Hybrid and Limited.
This latest generation RAV4 is surprisingly spacious. When the second row is folded, the load capacity is 69.8 cubic feet, but the RAV4 retains more than half of that volume with the second row upright.
All RAV4 are supplied with. , Amazon Alexa, a WiFi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio. A 7-inch touchscreen is standard on the LE, XLE and XLE Premium, but the XLE and XLE Premium can be upgraded to an 8-inch touchscreen with Toyota's entune infotainment system. This 8-inch touchscreen is standard on all other equipment, where buyers can also choose a JBL audio system with 11 speakers. The navigation is available as a package for RAV4 Adventure, TRD Offroad and XSE Hybrid and is part of the standard equipment of the Limited.
Every 2020 RAV4 is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, the company's standard safety function. These include pedestrian detection, an automatic emergency braking system, a lane departure warning with lane departure warning, automated high beam and an adaptive cruise control system that can bring the vehicle to a standstill.
