The polarizing new high-performance sedan and coupe will arrive in Australia early next year, starting at $ 144,900 and $ 149,900, respectively.
The brand new BMW M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupé are expected to arrive in Australian showrooms in the first quarter of 2021
The twin models share an in-line six-cylinder TwinPower turbo petrol engine that has an output of 353 kW / 550 Nm in the entry-level configuration. The drive is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, which enables an acceleration time of 4.2 seconds from zero to 100 km / h.
The performance-enhancing competition variants produce 375 kW / 650 Nm from the same engine block and have an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. The additional 22 kW, 100 Nm and faster gear changes bring the start from zero to 100 km / h in just 3.9 seconds.
The basic models come as standard with an M carbon fiber roof and carbon interior highlights, BMW’s Laserlight headlight technology (which allows drivers to see up to 800 meters at night), steel brake caliper brakes, M active differential and suspension, M Sport seats and seat belts , Head-up display, ConnectedDrive services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Harman Kardon surround sound system and wireless charging of smartphones.
The competition variants also receive the digital BMW key (with which the driver can lock, unlock and even start the car via the smartphone), shift paddles made of carbon fiber and the full leather upholstery “Merino”.
In the options department, buyers can add carbon ceramic brakes for $ 16,500, a carbon outer package for $ 9,500, lightweight bucket seats for $ 7,500, and either Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Pirelli P Zero Corsa chain tires for $ 2,000, depending on availability.
All vehicles are fitted as standard with 19-inch M light alloy wheels at the front and 20-inch M light alloy wheels at the rear. There are also four available designs to choose from.
In addition to a range of upholstery options, four different panel layouts are available at no additional cost.
The Isle of Man Green and Sao Paulo Yellow (used for debut photography) color schemes are exclusive to the line-up and are offered alongside Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue, Toronto Red and Brooklyn Gray.
Last week CarAdvice reported the expanded M Performance options range for the range, however not all accessories have been confirmed for the Australian market.
