Here is the basic requirement. The Mate X has two screens – a 6.6-inch main display and a 6.38-inch display on the back. Open the device and these will become an 8-inch panel with a resolution of 2,480 x 2,000. In all three configurations, the screen is 2,480 pixels wide and has a width of 1,148 pixels on the front and 892 pixels on the back. On the inside of the Galaxy Fold, however, is a slightly smaller 7.3-inch display, which works inwards. Samsung offers a 4.6-inch external panel for use when closed. The Mate X is also slightly slimmer, folded at 1
In the middle of Mate X is what Huawei calls a Falcon Wing hinge bulging outward – – Similar to Royole. On both sides of the hinge are battery cells with 4,500 mAh power. That's bigger than the Galaxy Flex's 4,380mAh, which would normally take a long time. Huawei believes this can be mitigated with the updated SuperCharge technology, which claims to boost the Mate X by 85 percent in 30 minutes.
The differences between the approaches of Huawei and Samsung are where it gets interesting. The Mate X has a long, narrow bar (in "Interstellar Blue") on the back, in which there are three Leica cameras and an on / off switch. Like the Galaxy Fold, the Huawei phone has a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button. Compared to the six cameras in the Fold system, the Huawei three-camera system on the Mate X feels like a more modest approach compared to Samsung's overkill.
The Huawei beam is also slightly curved. This offers the additional advantage that the device is easy to operate with a handle. The setup reminded me a little of Lenovo's Yoga Tablets from 2013, which had a cylinder on one side to accommodate a stand. Huawei's grip also holds the Mate X's USB-C charging port.
We could not see that the Mate X is just displaying the splash screen, so I can not say it if it's good for multitasking. However, Huawei says you can run two apps side by side and watch your movies on the 8 "screen.
The future of smartphones seems to be foldable, and I'm sure we'll see more of this here at MWC. This future could also be very expensive: Huawei said the Mate X will be available at 2019 Euros and will be available in mid-2019. Samsung's Galaxy Fold is expected to appear at an incredible $ 1,980 in late April. While it is exciting to see these innovations happening, I would wait for second-generation devices, or at least until the full discussion of these new flagships, before spending any money on them.
