There are catches that keep the price down. Both use 5.9-inch displays with a resolution of 1,560 x 720, so that is not satisfied with those who demand pixel density. And the performance is solid, but not really sparkling – you'll see a Snapdragon 439 with 8 or 4 GB in the Alcatel 3 and a 4-core Snapdragon 429 with 2 GB of RAM in the rather frugal 3L. They have huge 3,500 mAh batteries that should at least go far with 720p displays.
The attraction is simply the value for money. Both the 3 and 3L shares will start in the second quarter of the year at a starting price of € 1
There is an even cheaper option if you do not need all the ingredients. The Alcatel 1S (below) has a 18: 9 ratio 1440×720 display, replaces the 5MP secondary camera with a 2MP unit, and uses a low-end Spreadtrum eight-core chip, but at a price lowers very modest € 109 for the start of the second quarter.
