Since Apple AirPods hit the stores in December 2016, they have dominated the real wireless earphone market. And why not? They are amazingly easy to use (well, for iOS users anyway) and have solid connectivity, making them the essential earphones for die-hard Apple fans. If you already have wired EarPods (if you have an iPhone), you probably won't be impressed by the sound quality of the AirPods, as they sound almost exactly the same. What you really pay for is total freedom from wires. At the moment, you can purchase the AirPods with wired charging case from Best Buy for $ 140 instead of $ 160.
The AirPods look like the EarPods with cut cables. This design was quite polarizing and had its own fair share of admirers and critics. Although the lack of cables and compact size are quite practical, it's important to know that they aren't sweat-proof (you can take the Samsung Galaxy Buds to the gym and they're cheaper) and are extremely prone to breakdowns. And unlike most real wireless earbuds, AirPods don't have different sized silicone earbuds that you can attach to fit your ears perfectly. And this brings us to another very important consideration: if you are absent-minded or clumsy, you may want to stay away from them. If you lose the case, you cannot charge it. If you lose an AirPod, you have to buy a new one. However, with just one AirPod, you can still take calls and listen to music or podcasts.
The AirPods are supplied with a white charging case and a standard charging case. Output USB to flash charging cable. You won't find a USB wall plug here, but that's fine as there are likely to be a lot of them already lying around. After unpacking, the AirPods already contain a lot of juice, and that's where the magic happens. When your iOS device's Bluetooth is turned on, simply opening the case and removing the AirPods will bring up a pop-up window for instant pairing. The AirPods are also very easy to use. Inside are accelerometers and other sensors that determine when the buds were inserted and removed from the ears. When you remove an AirPod, the music automatically pauses, and when you tap the outside of an AirPod, Siri is called. You can ask them to set a reminder, schedule an alarm, make a call, or increase or decrease the volume of your music. Strangely, you can't tell her to skip a track in your Spotify playlist or get her to do any kind of song navigation. You have to do this manually.
As mentioned earlier, the AirPods are not the most impressive real wireless earbuds. These are certainly not on the list of audiophiles. The bass has a sufficient presence, but no punch, highs sparkle, but are not particularly refined or detailed, and the mids made us want more presence and warmth. The bottom line, however, is that if you like the sound of EarPods, you are completely satisfied with the sound of AirPods.
In terms of battery life, the AirPods are advertised for a listening time of up to five hours, two hours of talk time on a single full charge. Of course, everything boils down to the degree of utilization. With several charges from the AirPods case, you can expect a total listening time of 24 hours or a talk time of 11 hours, according to Apple. Perhaps most notably, the AirPods charge fairly quickly – just 15 minutes of charging gives three hours of listening time or one hour of talk time.
If you're a fan of the EarPods sound but hate cables, then the AirPods should be right in your alley. Get a wired charging case for $ 140 today at Best Buy.
What is the difference between the first and second generation AirPods besides upgrading the wireless charging case? Not much to be honest. They look the same, though there are some notable improvements under the hood, including the H1 chipset, longer talk time, and support for voice-activated Siri. They remain ridiculously easy to use and set up even for iOS devices, though the lack of water resistance or training features is confusing given the price. You can currently purchase the AirPods 2 with a wireless charging case from B & H Photo Video for $ 170 (vs. $ 200).
The latest AirPods have the same golf tee shape as their predecessors. Many people seem to like this design (considering how popular they are), although if you ask us what the old earpods look like with the wires cut off. Compared to its wired counterpart, the wireless charging case now has LED lights on the front that allow you to view the charging status when the case is placed on a Qi charging pad. Apple claims the case can carry the same amount of reserve fees as it did three years ago and offer up to 24 hours, which still outperforms most of its competitors.
The on-board controls are the same as before – for better or worse. Each AirPod works autonomously, which means that it doesn't run out of juice at the same time. Audio pauses automatically when you take one out – but only on Apple devices. As usual, they don't have the standard volume and song skip controls. They only offer double-click play and skip forward. However, you can assign play / pause, next track, and previous track controls to both earbuds in your iPhone's Bluetooth settings if you want. To change the volume, you can simply ask Siri to increase or decrease the volume for you. However, if you have an Android phone, you don't have to run it manually.
Speaking of Siri: With the old AirPods, voice-activated control was not possible. You can thank Apple's new H1 chip for this, in addition to less game delay and 50% faster connection for phone calls – although we haven't found any real difference compared to other real wireless earbuds, including the original AirPods. Apple also claims that the chip can significantly reduce your voice distortion in windy conditions, for superior call quality. We tested this in moderate wind and it actually worked. Despite all of these extremely welcome additions, it's hard to forgive Apple for the fact that the AirPods are still not sweat-proof. You have to pay a premium price for the Airpods Pro, which also have active noise cancellation.
When it comes to sound quality, the AirPods 2 fall into the "not bad" category. The sound quality reminded us very much of the wired EarPods. It's far from terrible and we appreciate the softness and warmth it gives certain songs, but that's not exactly what you're looking for when you hear hip-hop, rap, and other beat-driven genres. It is a very secure sound signature that should not offend anyone.
AirPods 2 is a modest update. If you are an iPhone user, these are the best real wireless earbuds, especially if you are looking for convenience. If you already have the old AirPods, you don't need to buy them.

iPad – $ 309, $ 329
The frames of the standard iPad are still overly large (removing them would have made it look a bit more contemporary), but this tablet now has a larger 10.2-inch screen compared to the 9.7-inch display of the previous model. In comparison, the trimmed bezels of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and those of the iPad Pro look extremely modern. However, none of this means that the iPad feels cheap. It has a nice, remarkable weight and a case made of 100% recycled aluminum, which is good for the environment. Instead of the Face ID, which is only available for the iPad Pro and the latest iPhones, you get the Touch ID, although this isn't exactly a deal-breaker for most users. What makes this different from the older iPad 9.7 is that it supports the Smart Connector so you can use it with Apple's Smart Keyboard (sold separately).
As already mentioned, this device offers a slight enlargement of the screen. The LCD panel's pixel density is the same at 264 pixels per inch, although it looks sharp, colorful, and very bright. And luckily, unlike the iPad Pro, the headphone jack was not removed. You don't have to look for a 3.5mm to flash socket if your Bluetooth headphones lose power.
Oddly enough, the iPad 10.2, unlike the rest of the iPad range that is now available, has not received a processor upgrade and has the A12 Bionic chipset. However, the tablet's A10 Fusion processor still offers a lot of performance. Multitasking with multiple apps open is not a problem, and navigation on the new iPadOS is smooth. The previous iPads only ran with a slightly modified version of the iOS, but the iPadOS is a completely different beast. You can use multiple apps in the Run menu, a redesigned home screen layout that includes Today View widgets, Desktop-level Safari, and multi-window apps. You can now even use Split View in the same app, e.g. B. if two Google Docs are open next to each other.
The first generation Apple Pencil is compatible with this iPad and remains an excellent and responsive tool. However, there's still no way to save it, unlike the second generation Apple Pencil that is magnetically attached to the iPad Pro, and there's still a risk that it'll halve every time you use the Lightning – Charge the connection. After all, the battery life was pretty good. You can use the iPad temporarily for a maximum of three days, or a full working day if you want to use it as the primary device.
Despite its shortcomings, the iPad 10.2 is the best tablet you can buy on a budget. It is powerful, has a fantastic operating system and offers a solid battery life. You can get it with 32GB of storage at B & H Photo Video for just $ 309 instead of $ 329, which means cool savings of $ 20.

iPad Pro – Starting at $ 800
If you are looking for something Take a look at the iPad Pro, our choice for the best tablet of 2020. It offers a lot too offer, including a stunningly beautiful screen, aesthetically pleasing, slim frame and almost desktop performance (although this model is not the new one).
This tablet is available in two sizes. the 11-inch model and the massive 12.9-inch model. Of course, the larger iPad Pro costs more, but it's essentially the same as the smaller one under the hood (same processor, same specifications, battery life, etc.). Although it is unwieldy, we love to use it to draw or watch movies. Currently, you can purchase the 11-inch iPad Pro at Best Buy for $ 800 instead of the usual $ 950, while the 12-inch version costs $ 100 more.
In terms of appearance, the iPad Pro keeps pace with the current design trend seen in most electronic devices. The iPad Pro bezels are sleek and symmetrical. Although it feels massive, it's light enough to be used with one hand (well, almost). Just like the iPhone X, the home button is now missing. The screen is unlocked using the Face ID and you have to swipe and gesture to navigate the user interface. In portrait format you will find the on / off switch and the volume rocker on the right. Unfortunately, just like the latest iPhone, this iPhone has no audio jack.
The Retina LED display has a resolution of 2,388 x 1,668 pixels and is breathtaking. Pictures look super sharp, the colors are vivid and it gets much brighter outdoors. The black tones are not as deep as the OLED display of the iPhone XS, but they are still breathtakingly beautiful. It supports HDR content and has a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz. So watching videos and working on this tablet are a blast. The battery life is one of the strengths. With a single charge, the iPad Pro can easily last all day under normal use.
The iPad Pro is a workhorse of a portable device. It is powered by the powerful A12X Bionic processor. Playing graphically demanding iPad Pro games was quick and smooth, and Apple even claims that the chip can handle graphical input better than Xbox One. Multitasking was also not a problem, since the iPad Pro can handle heavy programs like Photoshop relatively easily. While you may still want a desktop or laptop to run other programs, the iPad Pro is better than the iPad Mini, iPad, and iPad Air for professionals.
Probably the biggest advantage of the iPad Pro is its exclusive compatibility with the Apple Second generation pencil. The other iPads only support the first generation Apple Pencil, which you need to connect to the lighting port to charge and which can always be torn in half. The Apple Pencil 2, on the other hand, can be charged wirelessly and attached magnetically to the frame of the iPad Pro.

The MacBook Air is now thinner and lighter than ever, yet delivers the performance and solid build quality typical of Apple devices. However, today there are other MacBooks and laptops that are thinner and lighter. Even if it is no longer the featherweight champion, the MacBook Air offers excellent workmanship thanks to its environmentally friendly aluminum housing. This is an elegant laptop with the same clear aesthetics as the rest of its MacBook relatives. The latest version of the MacBook Air typically costs $ 1,100, but right now you can buy it at Best Buy for $ 900 – a huge $ 200 discount.
The MacBook Air looks almost the same as the previous one, with a few significant hardware and software upgrades. The older version is equipped with a single Thunderbolt 2 port and two USB 3 ports. The latest one has two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports instead. Although both models have a 13-inch LED-backlit screen, the newer display of the MacBook Air is further enhanced by Apple's True Tone technology. The screen can now adapt to the ambient light in your environment to make images appear more natural, with precise colors that are not oversaturated. However, it's not the best screen we've seen on a MacBook (this honor goes to the MacBook Pro) as it isn't as bright as we hoped it would look, but still looks fantastic.
Working with an Intel i5 processor, this MacBook Air has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It turned out to be quick and worked well when asked to do normal daily workflows like streaming videos, working in Photoshop, word processing, and surfing the web. However, we noticed some slowdown when multiple browsers, apps, and programs were open at the same time, but not enough to raise concerns.
The MacBook Air can last up to eight hours while surfing the web lightly. While this isn't exactly a bad number, it lags far behind Huawei's MateBook X Pro, which ran 9.5 hours in our review.
If you are determined to buy a MacBook but don't want to spend too much, the MacBook Air is for you. It is a well-rounded portable laptop with solid performance and first-class build quality. Get the latest version of MacBook Air for $ 900.
The 13.3-inch MacBook Pro is beautiful and remains the most luxurious laptop on the market. It is rock hard and has a unibody made of aluminum, which apart from the lower seams has no visible seams. However, there are a few things that keep us from fully recommending it. Although it has a fantastic display and top-notch processor and hard drive performance, the frustrating lack of ports and lackluster keyboard has to be addressed. The 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor is currently available on B&H Photo Video for $ 100 at the usual price. Get it for $ 1,199 instead of $ 1,299.
Let's start with the good things. The MacBook Pro's Retina display is great. With a pixel resolution of 2,560 × 1,600, the screen is not only super high-resolution, but also ridiculously bright, colorful and rich in contrast. With a maximum brightness of 548 lux, it doesn't matter whether you use it in the brightest room in the world – you will definitely see everything. The images look extremely realistic and the colors are fantastic thanks to True Tone technology. Finally, the contrast ratio is excellent. The MacBook Pro can easily deliver perfect blacks alongside the whitest whites.
We also have no major complaints about performance. In our processor and hard drive tests, the MacBook Pro delivered outstanding numbers that are among the best we have ever encountered. However, this laptop is not suitable for gaming. Graphically demanding games like Civilization VI ran badly with many glitches. We blame the integrated Intel graphics chip and Apple's OpenGL support, which has not been significantly updated in years.
Although we are very happy that the MacBook Pro still has a headphone jack, Apple chose USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 is the future and has thrown every other port overboard. Yes, USB-C is all you get, two on each side for a total of four. Although the simplicity of port selection has some advantages (each port is a charging port, so you can connect the wall adapter to the more convenient one), you will need many adapters for any other peripheral device you plan to attach. Would you like to use an external display? You need an adapter. External hard drive? Adapter. Any kind of wired input? Adapter. Ethernet? Adapter. SD card? Adapter. The greatest crime of all? You can't even connect an iPhone without buying an adapter.
The keyboard is also not very good. While definitely an improvement over the older MacBook Pros thanks to the improved key drop, it still suffers from a stiff, abrupt ground movement that can tire long typing operations.
This MacBook Pro includes the Touch Bar (units that don't tend to do this feature cheaper), but frankly it's not very useful. It's great to look at and that's about it. Yes, it offers a quick way to scroll through lists and can also be useful if you want to scroll through a video, but it is limited by its size. The miniature content previews shown are helpful, but so small that it is often difficult to tell tabs apart, even when only three or four are open. If you open even more tabs, you will no longer be able to tap each tab. Unfortunately, it's not very important for the MacBook experience.
Despite its shortcomings, it is difficult to discredit the incredible build quality, lightning-fast performance, and impressive display of the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro. Get it today at B & H Photo Video for $ 1,199.
