We knew it was coming, but it’s still annoying for many users: Apple is now shipping iPhones without a power adapter or EarPods.
It might be good for the environment, but it still means you have to spend extra money buying a new iPhone if you don’t have an old power adapter.
You also don’t get any headphones in the box. Again, having old earbuds or headphones is great, but if you don’t then you’ll have to pull out your credit card.
But here’s some good news that may have been lost in the shuffle: Apple cut the price of its 20W power adapter for the iPhone from $ 29 to $ 1
The company also cut the price of Lightning connector EarPods from $ 29 to $ 19.
Note that Apple’s guidelines don’t just apply to the iPhone 12. Apple will ship all iPhones currently in its lineup without wired earbuds or power adapters, including the iPhone 11, SE, and XR.
This means that when you buy a new iPhone, you will have to spend an extra $ 38 to get the same value as before. Not great, but better than $ 58.
