Apple today brings a new feature to Apple Music users that shows new albums, EPs, and videos from their favorite artists in iOS at the top of the Library tab.
The new feature first appears as a welcome page in Apple Music on iOS, which tells users that they can "see new music from artists you like". This way you get updates on new releases from artists you listen to. Notifications appear above your library of albums and playlists.
In the feature settings, you don't seem to be able to specify exactly which artists you want to receive notifications from. You can only enable or disable these notifications and choose whether or not to display these notifications on the Library tab.
The updated notification feature is not widely available at the time of writing, but appears to have been updated for a select group of users. To check this, you can visit "Apple Music" on the iPhone or iPad. The welcome screen is displayed for those who can use the new function.
"Apple Music" has offered push notifications about new albums and music from artists you have streamed in the past, but these are pretty unreliable. Now that Apple places notifications directly in the Apple Music app, the company seems to be trying to offer more reliable information about new album releases.
(Thank you, Joshua!)
