Arlo’s newest video doorbell pulls the wire

Arlo announced a new wireless video doorbell that runs on rechargeable batteries. This should make installation a lot easier for most people. The Arlo Essential Wireless Video Doorbell is available for pre-order now for $ 199.99. Arlo says it should be delivered “this holiday season”.

Aside from the new rechargeable battery, the new doorbell has very similar specifications to last year’s Arlo video doorbell. You still get a camera with a 180-degree field of view and an aspect ratio of 1: 1. It still supports HDR and night vision, as well as video calls, two-way audio calls and the ability to send recorded messages. You still have the option of hardwire the new battery operated doorbell and let it charge continuously if you don̵

The price of the doorbell includes three months of Arlo Smart. The subscription service gives you 30 days of rolling cloud recordings as well as intelligent object recognition that allows the doorbell to automatically recognize people, vehicles, animals and packages and send notifications about them to your phone. After your free period ends, prices start at $ 2.99 per month for continued access to the service.

Battery operated video doorbells are available from other manufacturers such as Ring and August. However, if you’ve already invested in Arlo’s smart security camera ecosystem and have an Arlo Smart multi-camera subscription, the new video doorbell should be a seamless addition.
