Asus ROG phone may receive an Android 9.0 pie update that will soon include references to the Geekbench collection – Technology News, Firstpost



Asus' powerful gaming smartphone. The Asus ROG phone could give you a taste of Google's latest Android version, Android 9.0 Pie. While the ROG phone was equipped with hardcore credentials, massive RAM and memory, Asus brought the gaming phone with Android 8.0 Oreo OS on board.

A Geekbench test saw a version of the -ROG phone with Android Pie OS. The model number ASUS_Z01QD was discovered in the synthetic mobile benchmark test with 2403 single-core score and 8889 multi-core score.

Apparently, the listing was recorded on January 8, 2019 to have 8GB of RAM. While the Geekbench listing suggests that the Asus ROG gaming phone is likely to receive its final big upgrade soon, the Taiwanese tech company has not yet shared a specific time frame.

As a reminder, Asus launched the ROG phone at Computex last October, and the smartphone was launched in late November in India. The phone is designed for gaming enthusiasts and has powerful features under the glass and metal hood. The phone has square lines and an aura-lit ROG logo on the back with RGB lighting.

For core specifications, the Asus ROG phone is powered by a custom high-frequency version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 2.96 GHz chipset. The phone contains 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM coupled with either 128GB or 512GB of native memory. It has a 6-inch AMOLED HDR display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The ROG phone has a 4000 mAh battery and supports the proprietary HyperCharge direct charging technology.

The phone has "Air Triggers" that improve gaming performance. It features a 3D steam chamber cooling system that dissipates heat while playing graphics-intensive games for extended periods of time. It has side-mounted ports that can be used to connect to the optional TwinView Dock for two-screen handheld mode.

The price of the Asus ROG phone in India starts at Rs 69,999 for the 128 GB model. In particular, Asus has released Android 9.0 Pie for Zenfone 5Z and Zenfone 5 in its last update. The ROG phone will be the third in line to get the latest Google Android operating system.
