Baldur’s Gate 3 can apparently be hit in 7 minutes

7 minutes! At least it would take me three times as long to get through character creation. Baldur’s Gate 3 may only offer part of the final planned experience right now, but even that long part was reduced to just 7 minutes by speedrunner Cary “Professor Palmer” Palmer, who found a way to literally jump through the whole thing in the blink of an eye.

As reported by Kotaku, Palmer explains that his route is not to kill anything, not to speak to anyone, and to skip any quest. All it takes is some firm bouncing legs and a little magic.

The trick really is to use the jump transmutation spell to triple your jump height, jump over every combat encounter, and skip most of the game̵

7;s cutscenes. There is a real test point: the player must conduct a successful investigation to get into the Whispering Depths through a well. But from there on, it’s an easy case to move up to the last area of the game and finish the run.

Of course, there is some dispute over whether this “counts” as a true speed run. Palmer is basically not at all concerned with the plot of the game, regardless of the fact that Baldur’s Gate 3 as the first act of an unfinished game has no ending to speak of anyway. As it stands, his speedrun simply takes his character to the last point on the game’s map.

To be fair, Palmer tried to try a more conventional speedrun. He just realized that the lack of a concrete ending made everything a bit pointless.

“I could find a way to end the toughest fight in the game before it even started by exploiting the body of a team member,” Palmer told Kotaku. “I was so proud of this strategy. However, when I got to the end of the game, I immediately found that the plot was not resolved or continued, and it clicked that everything was indeed optional as none of it is currently linked. “

However, to his credit, Palmer noted that he wants to plan a separate speedrun for all quests that goes through the meat and potatoes of Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s just a shame the character he’s speedrunning with doesn’t look nearly as fashionable as ours.
