Black Widow with Scarlett Johansson: storyline, release date, cast, trailer and more

Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) finally gets her own Marvel standalone film.

Thor. Ironman. Captain America. Hulk. Spider-Man . They all made their origin stories play on the big screen. Now it's Black Widow's turn. The self-contained Black Widow movie starts Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and shows how Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff lost and collapsed – until she faces a new villain.

The first trailer for Black Widow debuted on December 3 with footage previously shown to fans at D23 and the Comic-Con. Romanoff approaches the door of a residential building with his weapon drawn, and she meets another woman with a weapon drawn. It's Florence Pugh as the character Yelena Belova, who calls Romanoff "sis".

The new trailer also gives fans a closer look at David Harbor as the paternal character of Alexei Shostakov, also known as the Red Guardian; and Rachel Weisz as the character Melina. This could mean that fans see that Romanoff not only rejoins their assassin family, but also fights on their side.

Everything we know about the Black Widow movie

The movie is set in Budapest. The fans first heard Romanoff's first Avengers film in 2012, chatting with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) about a mysterious adventure in the Hungarian city.

"It's a movie about self-forgiveness … and family," Johansson said in an interview with Vanity Fair on November 26. Throughout the film about herself and all the things that make her, she experiences them Crisis in fact on the other side and can move back into a space where she is a more grounded self-obsessed person. This is her journey.

Johansson also confirmed that the film was shot in mid-November.

There could even be a cameo by Avengers member Tony Stark / Iron Man (played by Robert Downey Jr.), according to Deadline. However, Marvel has yet to officially announce that Downey Jr. is in the film, and neither Marvel nor Disney immediately responded to a request for comment on the casting mention.

On October 1, 2019, actor William Hurt was cast in The Black Widow film set photographed and sparked a fan-theory that he will repeat his role as General "Thunderbolt" Ross in the Marvel Universe during a possible finish credits scene.General Ross entered the infinity war as an opponent of Captain America and Black Widow on, General Ross also had a cameo in Endgame during the funeral scene.

When does it happen?

The movie is released shortly after "Captain America: Civil W ar ", but before" Infinity War "and" Endgame "set, making it a precursor to the recent Avengers films. Which makes sense, considering what happened to Romanoff during the final.

In the movie Black Widow, fans will see what happened after Romanoff went into exile after Captain America and Bucky Barnes fled civil war.

Which footage was shown on the Comic-Con and D23?

Participants in the Comic-Con 2019 saw some shots of an epic battle scene between Scarlett Johansson and fellow actor Florence Pugh as the character Yelena Belova. The two were described as sisters.

The SDCC footage contains previous Romanoff footage from Marvel films such as Iron Man 2, Age of Ultron, Civil War and Endgame.

Then the video changes to a shot of Budapest, in which Romanoff approaches the door of a residential building with his weapon drawn. Romanoff searches each room until she hears a Russian-accented woman say, "I know you're out there." It is Belova and her weapon is also drawn.

Marvel's Phase 4 Plan Explained

The two have a depressed, sluggish fight in different rooms of the apartment. Belova's features are identical to those of Romanoff, which could mean that they were trained by the same person. The fight ends with the characters gagging each other with a shower curtain on the floor.

The SDCC footage also includes a motorcycle hunt, and Romanoff and Belova share a drink, in which Romanoff calls her "sister." It also shows how Romanoff says, "I have a very special ability" and wants to delete the red from their general ledger. Interestingly, there are some attitudes of other women in costumes like Black Widow's, which implies that other Russian agents could replace them at any time.

The D23 footage from August 24 extends what was seen on SDCC and also features a new white outfit for Black Widow. The battle scene between ScarJo and Pugh culminates in the revelation that Pugh is the sister of Black Widow, Yelena, and the fight was just her welcoming Natasha home.

Who is the main villain, Taskmaster?

Other SDCC footage shows Romanoff's car being blown up by the malicious Taskmaster. They fight and Romanoff realizes that he can mirror all their fighting movements – much like Belova in the previous fight. Could Belova be a secret taskmaster, or is there more in this mysterious villain?

The supervillain appeared for the first time in 1980 in the comic series The Avengers. His superpowers include the ability to imitate his opponent's physical moves by simply seeing them.

Taskmaster wears a hood over his head and uses a protective shield. In the comics, Taskmaster also taught criminals how to improve their combat skills.

Andy Park, Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios, released the first concept graphic for the film on July 22 on Instagram, in which Black Widow shows the fight against Taskmaster.

Who is the Red Guard?

Stranger Things and Hellboy Star David Harbor was cast as Alexei Shostakov, also known as the Red Guardian.

The Red Guard appeared for the first time in the comics in The Avengers No. 43. In the comics, Shostakov is seen as a longtime agent of the KGB, but it is still unclear whether his character will be an enemy or an ally of Romanoff.

Who makes the movie?

Cate Shortland is the first director to hire Marvel to shoot a full-length live action film single-handedly. Shortland is best known for her women-run films Lore and Berlin Syndrome.

The script was written by scriptwriter and producer Jac Schaeffer, best known for her other superhero movie, Captain Marvel. Black Widow is the first Marvel film written and filmed exclusively by women .
