Gearbox announced that today Border areas 3 will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S in the future. These next-generation versions will support split-screen for three and four players.
These new ports are available free of charge to current owners of Border areas 3 on PS4 and Xbox One. These older consoles will also receive an update in the future that includes support for vertical split screen co-op. No date has been given as to when these new next generation ports can be expected.
Chaos comes to the next generation! And we’ve heard you about vertical split screen – that’s coming for the current generation too! # Borderlands3 pic.twitter.com/RuxqQx5THI

Gearbox also confirmed a new paid DLC pack coming out later this year that will add new skill trees for all playable vault hunters.
Border areas 3 is one of many current generation games making the leap to PS5 and the new Xbox consoles. Doom Eternal, Elder Scrolls Online, Department 2, Fate 2, and Grand Theft Auto Online all of them will continue to make the leap to next-generation consoles in the future. Most publishers and developers go the same way as Border areas 3 and players can upgrade to the new consoles for free, provided they already own the current generation versions. However, there are exceptions like control. Players will have to buy new versions of this game if they want to play on the next generation.
