Borderlands 3 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X, with more content coming during PAX Online

During the PAX Online Digital Showcase, Gearbox explained the new features of Borderlands 3, including confirmation that it will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / Series X with cross-progression and cross-save support. No publication date was given.

Gearbox announced that Borderlands 3 players on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will receive a free next-generation upgrade for their respective consoles. In addition, the next generation Borderlands 3 lets you carry over the content you have purchased and current generation advances. It’s unclear whether this upgrade path points to those with the digital or physical version of the game.

Borderlands 3 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X runs at 4K and 60 frames per second, the studio confirmed. In addition, two highly sought-after features ̵

1; local four-player co-op and vertical split screen – are available to all players for free. A free patch will also add a vertical split screen to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, though Gearbox hasn’t made it clear when that will drop. Similarly, Gearbox has not indicated whether to add local four-player co-op to current generation systems.

Gearbox said Borderlands 3 will receive new add-on content later this year. It won’t be of the same order of magnitude as the DLC included in the game’s Season Pass. However, the upcoming DLC will include new action skills and an additional skill tree for each vault hunter.

For example, FL4K’s new skill tree emphasizes Trapper, the shields and survivability for you and your pet. The Trapper Skill Tree includes the new action skill Gravity Snare, a crowd-controlling skill that sends out a trap and hurls enemies into the air before slamming them back onto the ground. FL4K also gets a new pet option, a Hyperion Loaderbot, which offers additional crowd control features.

In other Borderlands 3 news, the game’s fourth DLC, Psycho War and The Fantastic Fustercluck, was released on September 10th. It’s the final DLC in Borderlands 3’s Season Pass, and it raises the level cap again.
