Bose announced Sleepbuds ™ II, the next generation of its bedtime that can be carried with technology clinically proven to help people fall asleep faster.
Bose Sleepbuds ™ II aren’t active noise-canceling headphones or in-ear headphones with an extra feature, and they don’t stream music or let you take and make calls – because every detail is optimized for one thing – better sleep, all night , each night.
Sleepbuds II has been shown to provide better noise masking than its predecessor, and introduces new categories of content to combat the other barrier to calm: the inability to relax. They combine a new acoustic and electronic design, a new housing that’s lighter than a dime, new proprietary earbuds for a secure, super-soft fit, and over 35 free tracks ̵
“Bose Sleepbuds II takes advantage of advances in our proprietary sound masking technology because masking sound – not canceling sound – is a better way to sleep,” said Steve Romine, head of Bose Health Division. “The experience of combining earphones with apps, playing your music louder, or using earplugs and bedside devices cannot be repeated – millions of people still suffer. We never gave up helping them, and that’s why we’re so excited about Sleepbuds II. They “calm down” more of the low frequencies found in the greatest threats to a peaceful bedroom – like snoring partners, idling motors, and steps in nearby. And with new relaxation paths, they also help calm your mind. “
In a unique study, Bose partnered with the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus and the UCHealth CARE Innovation Center to test the effects of Bose sleep technology – clinically proven to help people fall asleep faster. The research also found that 100% of participants confirmed that Bose sound masking worked against the common disturbances that were keeping them awake or waking them up. 86% said the product helped them fall asleep easier; 76% said it helped them fall asleep; and 80% reported an overall improvement in sleep quality.
Bose Sleepbuds II brings advances in noise management, acoustics, psychoacoustics and electronic miniaturization. Each bud is only an inch deep – about the size of an eraser – to drastically reduce irritating contact when your head is on a pillow, even on your side. A new anti-friction coating covers each case to prevent “squeaking” against fabric, and a new etched antenna ensures a more reliable phone and tablet connection with energy-saving Bluetooth. Inside, a new NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) battery provides 10 hours of running time, and a new tiny circuit board stores up to 10 files from the Sleep app library. The noise masking tracks are tuned to a new transducer to cover and replace more unwanted noise than ever before. A new pressure equalization design and soft silicone tips prevent more from getting into your ear. With three sizes, the tips differ from those for daytime use. Their materials, shape, and design are all optimized to stay in place for a full night of peaceful, painless rest.
Sleepbuds II come with an upgraded anodized aluminum case that stabilizes each bud while it’s stored and charged, and offers up to 30 additional hours of battery life. For the sake of simplicity, they are equally compatible with iOS and Android devices. For durability reasons, they are sweat- and waterproof with protection class IPX4.
Bose Sleepbuds II will be available October 6th for $ 249.95. Pre-orders are now possible.
