Cadillac brought prototype CT5-V V8s to a weekend meetup and they sounded fantastic

Some pre-production test models of the upcoming range are focused Cadillac CT5-V – these apparently with muscular V8 engines – showed up at an auto show in Michigan last weekend and sounded extremely charged.

The new Cadillac performance models were a bit of a mess. First, they were renamed from ATS and CTS to quasi-numeric. The old CTS-V is now the CT5-V. But that’s not all – the CT5-V is already on sale but has been switched off by the previous CTS-V and is therefore very different.

Now Cadillac is working on a hotter version, but the company’s new Blackwing V8 is said to be (and embarrassing) does not fit. Then what do these cars have?

The current CT5-V is powered by a twin-turbo V6 that develops 360 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. That would be fine if its predecessor with a nearly identical name hadn’t caused so much buzz a whopping 640 hp. Of course, the price of the new car has decreased significantly compared to the old V models, but so has the performance. Cadillac claims it’s because the owners found the previous cars too. “intimidating.

But after all the obvious play against the newer, cheaper, more powerful, and “less intimidating” V-Cars, Cadillac is developing hotter, more track-oriented models like these prototypes this weekend at Michigan’s High Octane Cafe & Bakery.

The second clip of the two cars driving down the street seems to confirm that the engine will at least be charged. That alone gives a lot of credibility to the idea that Cadillac is still working with the old V-car’s 6.2-liter LT4 V8, as rumors suggest, which was charged in the old CTS-V. Earlier reports also appeared to show a prototype with a manual transmission like the earlier version which is good news.

The current CT4-V, confusingly large between the old ATS and CTS sedans but slightly smaller than the CT5-V, starts at $ 45,500, and the current rear-wheel drive CT5-V starts at around $ 49,000. Dollar. The previous CTS-V was priced at $ 89,000. So these more lane-oriented V-cars will (hopefully) be somewhere under or around this larger wallet.
