The second weekend beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is just around the corner and you can start the preloading right away. Activision has confirmed that pre-loading is now available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The company has also made it clear what is in the beta and what more to expect from it. You can pre-download the Black Ops Cold War Weekend 2 beta now and no codes are required. Also noteworthy are PS4 players who took part in the first weekend of beta do not need to download the client again.
The beta version of Black Ops Cold War Weekend 2 begins on Thursday, October 15th at 10am. All PS4 players will be able to participate in the beta at this point, while Xbox One and PC players will need to pre-order in order to start playing.
On October 17th, the beta will open to everyone, regardless of pre-order status. It runs until October 19th. Xbox Live Gold is required on Xbox One and a Battle.net account is required on PC.
The new beta version of Black Ops Cold War offers cross-play support between all platforms. Players can try a “range” of multiplayer maps, but a full overview has not been announced. There will be a variety of 6v6 modes as well as the all-new 12v12 Combined Arms and 40-player Fireteam: Dirty Bomb modes.
There will also be a progression system in place so players can see what it is like to unlock new weapons, equipment, world class slots, and scorestreaks. However, as with previous Call of Duty betas, it is expected that all advances will be deleted prior to official release.
Activision also said that gamers should expect “frequent updates and a few surprises” for the beta, so keep checking back for the latest information.
Everyone who has reached level 10 in the beta will receive the special SMG weapons blueprint for mutual animosity, which can be unlocked when the Black Ops Cold War starts in November.
Black Ops Cold War will officially be released on November 13th for PS4, Xbox One and PC, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
