As if G-Shock wasn’t beefy enough Casio just announced three new models in the GA900 family, an analog-to-digital watch roughly the size and thickness of a hamster’s personal pan pizza.
The GA900 are normal G-Shock watches, just oversized. The analog-digital line has analog pointers, a digital display and is waterproof up to 200 meters.
The watches are described as “high-performance models that are ideal for use in harsh environments, and also as street fashion items”. The same goes for “You can wear these to a construction site, but you will most likely wear them to Starbucks. “
The GA900 is a standard in terms of functionality. A unique retrograde timer at noon shows the elapsed time and, thanks to the analog hands and digital display, also supports the display of world time and double time. It comes on a resin or reflective fabric tape.
The real upside, of course, is that this thing can likely survive if hit by a truck and visible – if not from space – then from a drone. Both are important factors in 21st century watch selection.
The pieces are available for pre-order for $ 130 on Casio’s website.
