Cyberpunk 2077 Massive game size teased by the Chinese localization team

Every detail we’ve seen so far in Cyberpunk 2077 has shown how massive it will be, and this behind-the-scenes look at voice recording for Chinese localization is no different. A quick look reveals that the voice work has 15% -20% more lines than The Witcher 3 – including the two huge DLC add-ons.

The stats were tweeted by video game analyst Daniel Ahmad along with a photo of some of the cast in the recording studio. The Chinese localization alone required, according to Ahmad, “more than 150 speakers, 100,000 lines, 4 recording studios and 10,000 person-hours”.

Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be delayed again so we’ll see how it all came together very soon. It was postponed from April to September before finally settling on a November 1

9th date.

Interestingly, Cyberpunk 2077 won’t officially release on China’s notoriously strict entertainment market, but it will continue to be available to Chinese gamers through Steam. According to Ahmad, CD Projekt Red has a solid reputation with gamers in China and at one point was even the top market for pre-orders for the upcoming game. You can read what cyberpunk sounds like in Mandarin Chinese in the following demo material:

Ahmad has previously tracked CDPR’s popularity in China and noted its massive presence on Bilibili, a Chinese social media site with similarities to Twitch and YouTube.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches with full voice acting in 10 different languages, a huge undertaking for a game of this size. Another eight languages will be available in subtitles. The full list includes:
