Google introduces the new dark mode, which can take some time to reach your Android phone or tablet. If you still don’t see the setting completely, just check it further. As with most software rollouts, it can take a few weeks for them to appear. It’s also a good idea to check if you have any pending app updates installed in the Play Store app.
We’ll walk you through the areas where you can look for the new dark mode switch, as well as a way to preview a document using a light theme to make sure it looks the way you want it to.
Turn on dark mode manually
As soon as your account has access to the new function, you will find a new one theme Setting in any of the sheets, docs or slides apps. Here’s where to look:
1. Open sheets, documents, or slides, and then tap the menu button in the upper left corner. It is the three line symbol.
2nd Tap the settings from the list of options.
3rd Choose Choose topic.
4th Finally choose dark, light or System error.
After the function has been added to your device, it should already be set to system standard. This means that the dark mode in the app follows the dark mode setting of your phone or tablet. If you want the apps to go dark or light regardless of what your Android is doing, you need to adjust the theme setting in each app.
Preview a document in light mode
There will surely be a time when you want to see what a document looks like in the more traditional light mode. That’s why Google added a switch to do just that.
When viewing a file in documents or sheets, tap More Three dot button, then select View in the light theme. The app quickly changes the preview theme, so you can check if everything looks the way it should without having to change the settings of the apps.
The search giant didn’t mention whether the iOS version of Google Apps would get the feature, and didn’t immediately respond to a request for a comment.
There are many Android apps that have already added a dark mode, and we’ve rounded up. When it comes to Android, be sure to check all gestures . And if you ever lose your phone, you’ll be glad you took the time to read it .
