Elon Musk estimates 1000 spaceships and 20 years to build the first sustainable city on Mars

We know of Elon Musk's plan to build a city and bring people to Mars. However, this is not a reality for the time being.

There are still many things to do on Earth. Moving to Mars is still a far-fetched idea. But nothing prevents Elon Musk from planning and having an idea how to make it happen.

Answering a few questions on Twitter, Elon Musk said it will require at least 1

000 spaceships to build a self-sustaining city on Mars.

He added that it will take about 20 years for millions of tons to be transferred to the Mars-based Alpha to make them sustainable, as the planets line up every two years.

Of course, that's only vague, but it's pretty interesting to learn about it from Elon Musk himself.

Although we can not be sure what would happen, the interesting insights from Elon Musk's answer are definitely something special considering all the SpaceX developments so far.

While we know that Elon Musk was discussing a Mars mission with occupation until 2024, only time will tell what else can be done after the scheduled missions have taken place.
