Many of the cast of the 1987 fantasy comedy film The Princess Bride practically reunited on Sunday night in a Zoom fundraiser for the Wisconsin Democrats. More than 110,000 people donated at least $ 1 each to watch the cast read the script, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. But a key member of the Princess Bride family, star Fred Savage, has gone missing – and he’s now explained why.
Savage played the key role of the nameless “grandson” in the film, with actor Peter Falk telling him the story that became the film. During Sunday’s fundraiser, Finn Wolfhard, the star of Stranger Things, read Savage̵
“The whole internet is playing ‘Fred Savage: Dead or Republican?’ (right now), “wrote a Twitter user.
Speculation was certainly fueled in part by director Rob Reiner, who stated that all of the surviving cast members took part. But Savage, 44, is not dead, and he confirmed that in an Instagram post on Monday.
Savage posted a childhood photo of himself with his younger brother, actor Ben Savage, and wrote: “Do you want to feel old? My little brother is 40 !! Had so much fun partying with him last night! … and during I am always proud to be part of the Princess Bride family, sometimes the real family comes first. “
Next up for Savage: he’ll be directing, The Wonder Years, which will focus on a black family.
