Genius sued Google for allegedly stolen lyrics

Lyrics Web Site Genius sues Google for stating that it continues to knowingly copy the lyrics and use them in the search results. Genius also accuses Google of anti-competitive behavior and claims more than $ 400 million in damages from Google and a partner.

Google displays song lyrics provided by partners in response to specific search queries. Genius claimed earlier this year that these texts were in some cases copied from his website, which could be followed by a clever watermarking scheme. Genius is now suing the allegedly revoked texts and accusing Google and a lyrics partner, LyricFind, of violating its terms of service.

The complaint filed in Brooklyn, New York on December 3, states that Google is not only violating Google's behavior. It benefits from the ten years and ten million dollars that Genius spent building its business and database has, and thus represents an unfair competition.
