If you need to figure out where the hell to vote or cast your ballot, Google is now pointing you in the right direction in Maps and Search.
Starting today, Google will display information about the closest voting locations when you search for questions about voting boxes, early voting, and personal voting locations. When information is not immediately available, which was the case when I tried the feature, Google referred me to the official website of my local polling station instead. Google will continue to update the information as it becomes available and plans to provide data on more than 200,000 polling locations in the United States
Google did before Information on voting and registration Available when users have searched for related queries and today’s features expand these efforts through partnerships with state electoral agencies, the non-partisan nonprofit Democracy Works, and the Voting Information Project.
The feature will also be extended to Google Assistant-enabled phones, smart speakers, and smart displays. “Hey Google, where do I vote?” As with searching in Chrome or Maps, the query prompts the assistant to go to locations and provide directions on the closest voting location. Google said this feature will “soon” be available on assistant-enabled devices.
