GoPro’s new Hero 9 Black has a second color screen, better battery life, and 5K videos for $ 450

The new flagship action camera from GoPro – the Hero 9 Black – is here and brings one of the most important updates to the product range in years. In addition to a new design with a front-facing color display, the Hero 9 Black improves on almost every aspect of the device with better resolution for stills and videos, a bigger battery, better video stabilization, and much more. The downside: These changes also bring a higher price tag of $ 449.99, $ 50 more than the 2019 Hero 8 Black.

GoPro has improved the overall resolution the Hero 9 Black can record at, with still images of up to 20 megapixels (out of 1

2 megapixels) and the option to record 5K video for the first time (but only at 30 frames per second compared to 60 frames per second for 4K video). The replaceable 1,720 mAh battery is 40 percent larger than the Hero 8 Black. GoPro has also brought back the removable front lens cover, a feature that was missing on the 2019 model, and will be selling a new “Max Lens” mod this October for $ 99, which offers an even wider frame and horizontal leveling regardless of orientation the camera.

The screens have also been improved: the front display now offers a full-color control panel for previewing recordings, while the rear display is a larger 2.27-inch touchscreen (compared to the 1.95-inch display on the old model). The larger display and battery also mean that the new device is slightly larger than the old models.

The GoPro Hero 9 Black is available now for $ 449.99 or $ 349.98 if you purchase it through the GoPro website if you also purchase a one-year GoPro Plus subscription that costs $ 50 per year. For more information, see our full review here.
