Yesterday, AMD’s Lisa Su announced that the Big Navi will be announced next month (and there have been way too many announcements after announcements). But now there is always someone in Asia who has something to show. And it turns out that would be a photo of Big Navi.
The photo shows the back of the supposedly large Big Navi prototype circuit board. You can see that Big Navi is indeed big as well as eight memory SMT lanes with paper labels “Typical XT ASIC” references for a “16Gb Samsung GDDR6 memory”
Also excellent cooler 🙂 (again prototype sample)
This is then a 256-bit memory interface. The chip should therefore be paired with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. We don’t think AMD would be silly enough to work with 8GB. It’s a technical example of some sort, hence all paper labels and so on. Well, we’ll see it when it launches on October 28th.
