How to create a chore chart with Alexa

If your household is like mine, there are constant arguments about who's turn to take out the trash, wash the dishes, or vacuum the vacuum cleaner. My fix bring in Alexa.

With Alexa Skill Blueprints you can create a chore chart and sort Alexa out of the arguments. That's how it's done.

Creating a Chore Chart

Alexa Skill Blueprints lets you create your own personalized Alexa skills without the need for technical jargon or coding.

To set up your chore chart, go to the Chore Chart Blueprint and click the Make Your Own button. In the Household members section, add the names of your family members or roommates.

The next section on the page contains a ready-made list of tasks that you can use. You can eliminate unwanted tasks by clicking the X icon or you can add more by clicking the Add button at the bottom of the page.

When done, scroll back and click the Next: Assign button at the top right of the screen.

In the next screen, select a person in your household from the drop-down list and assign them a job from the second drop-down list. Then assign the days when they need to do the work. At the bottom of the screen, you can set reminders so that Alexa announces the job and its player.

Click Add a Person at the bottom of the screen to find another person with a task. Click Next: Experience when you're done.

On the Experience page, you can choose how Alexa interacts with users and encourages users when they use the chore chart. You can use the ready-made answers or add your own. For example, you can say "good job, you are a champion" when a task is done.

When you're done, click Next: Name at the top of the screen. After giving your diagram a name, click . Next: Create skill to complete the process.

How to Use Your Chore Chart

After you create your chore chart, you will be directed to a login screen to connect the new skill to your Alexa device. When this is done, you can open the skill by saying "Alexa, open (chore chart name)."

To use the chart, ask Alexa to read the job list for the day. When a task is done, say "Alexa, ask (the name of the chore charts) to log a task."

You can also take the argument of those who have done more tasks by asking, "Alexa, ask for the job point". One job equals one point and the scoring system restarts every week.
