Huawei Watch GT2 Pro launches with wireless charging, € 329

Huawei is re-entering the fitness tracker and wearables market with an updated and updated Watch GT2 Pro that promises to take advantage of the best parts of its predecessors and improve again.

While that’s a good thing, the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro has more or less the same internals and experiences as the Watch GT2 of recent years and, to a lesser extent, the sportier Watch GT2e. Despite the divorce case at Google, the wearable division at Huawei got off to an excellent start in 2020.

This latest smartwatch has been featured along with a number of other products as the company seems to be shifting the focus slightly from its smartphones in favor of wearables ̵

1; at least in Western markets. In summary, it can be said that the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro has essentially the same internals as the previous model.

It’s powered by LiteOS, which is a very low-key experience compared to Wear OS, but still has enough pre-installed apps and tracking modes to keep the active person happy. Exterior changes include an improved 47mm titanium and ceramic chassis. The display galls are made of sapphire crystal to improve robustness.

The AMOLED display has a negligible resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, with hardly any notepad visible on any side of the circular panel. Although it’s worth noting that the display size remains 1.39 inches. For those with petite wrists, the GT2 Pro might be one to skip over.

The ceramic back plate works in two ways, as the Watch GT2 Pro can be charged wirelessly for the first time. This means that you don’t have to mess with adapters or cables. If you only use a Qi charger for 10 minutes, you will get a service life of approx. 5 hours. However, there is a charging cradle in the retail box.

As with the previous generation, the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro has a Bluetooth connection and a loudspeaker for calls – and thanks to 2 GB of onboard memory even for music playback. You can also track up to 100 sports including golf swing analysis, swim modes, hiking mapping, and treadmill runs, walks, biking, swimming, elliptical training, and rowing machine use, and free weight training at the gym.

The prices for the sports model start at 329 euros, for the classic model at 349 euros. They will go on sale in the coming weeks. We will have a full review of the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro in the coming days. The following Smart Wearable offers some interesting new additions as well as extended tracking functions.
