Last year, the future of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise was called into question when the series's director, James Gunn, was fired by Disney for some offensive tweets he'd made years ago. The third part of the franchise was put on hold when Marvel was looking for a new director for the film.
However, in what feels like the biggest plot change of the year (to date), a deadline report has revealed that Gunn is back on the director's seat. According to the report, it appears Gunn had met with Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn several times to discuss the situation in which Horn was eventually convinced by Gunn's apology and reversed the course to direct him to the film to insert again.
Gunn has done so since confirming that the report is true in a post on Twitter in which he expressed his thanks to all those who had supported him. Earlier, the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy attempted to ask Disney to change their minds, with actor Dave Bautista (who plays Drax) the most vocal of all and even threatening to leave if Gunn was not reinstated ,
In the meantime, Gunn will also direct the continuation of DC's suicide squad.
