Good comes to those who wait.

LG's 2018 OLED televisions, with the best picture quality CNET has ever tested, have reached new lows at various retailers. The price is well below the company's Super Bowl sale which was well below the Black Friday price of on any OLED TV in those sizes seen by an authorized retailer. Note that you must put the TV in the shopping cart to display the price. I've also reviewed Walmart and Amazon, but both do not stock the TVs themselves, but sell them through other retailers.

Time to press the trigger if you are not already

If you are in the market for a high-end TV and can afford an OLED – in short, if you have been waiting for that price drop – now is the time to buy.

Between the two series, the B8 is the one you can buy. I voted CNET Editors' Choice Award the best high-end TV for 2018. It delivers everything I expected from an OLED television in terms of image quality, starting with perfect black levels. It has a lot of brightness and contrast to make almost everything – including football – look good. Yes, the more expensive C8 was just a little better in my tests, but the difference is not worth the money.

Then the difference for the 65-inch C8 is now only $ 100, so if you want a bit of picture quality, that's in my comparison side by side mainly as a reduced banding with some material showed, I do not want to accuse you. They also have different booth designs.

All OLED televisions have increased burn-in potential-based models compared to LCDs, although this is for most users and use cases pose no problem. If you are new to Burn-In, you should know the following .

Of course LG's 2019 OLED TVs will arrive this spring, but will be the past is a reference I do not expect to buy them at the earliest on Black Friday 2019. Yes. The new models have some HDMI 2.1 features that could be of interest to high-end gamers and Dolby Atmos fans. However, the improvement in image quality from 2018 to 2019 is better processing. Based on previous comparisons, I expect the visible difference between the B8 and its 2019 cohorts to be at best low.

In other words, OLED image quality has largely reached a plateau status, and if you're not ready to make a small improvement, it's best to choose the cheapest option.

75-inch options and more

Beyond The still high price, the main disadvantage of the B8 is the fact that it is at 65 inches maximum. Yes, LG sells a 77-inch OLED, but costs seven big.

Many TV buyers tend to have a 70 or 75 inch TV. If you're looking for a powerful set in this size that's relatively cheap, my first recommendation is the new 75-inch TCL 6 Series . The 75-inch Vizio P Series is another excellent choice.

To achieve significantly better picture quality in a 758-inch TV from 2018, you'll have to pay for the Samsung Q9 by then.
