What’s new in iOS 14?
The iOS 14 Developer Preview was launched in June, and many have been using the public beta so far. We downloaded iOS 14 and have been using iOS 14 for the past few weeks. We have to admit that iOS has gone through some massive changes including Siri which received a very late update but a good one indeed. The home screen has also been updated. You will now see the App Library there, where you can find all of your apps. iOS 14 also offers widgets of various shapes and sizes. Users can add widgets to the home screen, such as widgets for the Notes app, weather, stocks, and more.
Picture-in-picture is coming to iPhones. For those who don’t know, the picture-in-picture is an iPad feature and is finally making its way to the iPhones. As soon as you close the YouTube app while watching a video, the picture-in-picture window will appear.
Messages, the dated app is finally getting a major makeover and is likely to become one of your favorite iOS 14 apps. IOS 14 lets you pin messages to the top and also provides a variety of updates for group messages as well.
One of our favorite iOS 14 picks is that Siri now doesn’t take up the entire screen and appears as a rounded black popup at the bottom of the screen. Next, phone calls will now appear as a popup at the top of the screen, which means you won’t be bothered while typing.
Privacy is once again at the heart of the new iOS 14 update, and users will see orange and green lights at the top of the screen when using the device’s camera or microphone. A brilliant implementation that doesn’t change anything for the user, but understands how different apps access user data.
