In robotics, interest has generally increased during the pandemic. So it makes perfect sense for investors to take a closer look at autonomous drone delivery. That’s good news for Volansi, who just announced a Series B worth $ 50 million.
The round led by Icon Ventures brings the total funding of the Bay Area-based startup to around $ 75 million. The existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and YCombinator as well as the new names Harpoon Ventures and Merck Global Health Innovation Fund are also involved.

An important application here is the delivery of medical aid supplies. The middle mile drones are capable of traversing terrain that may be difficult or impossible to reach using traditional ground methods. Current customers include both corporate and government departments. This new round of funding will serve to increase the number of employees, launch new projects and drive existing initiatives in the US and emerging markets.
