This morning we asked our readers on Twitter if they would prefer USB C ports or Lightning ports in the iPhone 2019 series, and the results so far are clearly – MacRumor's reader ready for the transition to USB-C.

With more than 15,000 responses on both platforms at the time of writing, 74% of Twitter users chose USB-C and Lightning and 71% of Facebook users.

There are rumors that Apple is considering switching to USB-C in the 2019 iPhone series, with USB-C prototypes supposedly floating around, but the latest information comes from Japanese locations Mac Otakara suggests that Apple continue to use Lightning for the 201

9 iPhone series.

In the face of mixed rumors, it looks like there will be no switch to USB-C in 2019, but it's still possible, and the rumors are encouraging, as it means we'll see a switch in the near future To see Lightning. iPhones in 2020 or 2021 might have USB-C, though this is not the case.

Many current iPhone users may be reluctant to switch from the Lightning ports because they've been collecting Lightning-based accessories for years, but there are some benefits to keep in mind. With USB-C, iPhones can charge faster than with the current 5-watt iPhone adapter and Lightning cable, and the cables are replaced with cables for the MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iPad.

With USB-C support for the iPhone, a single cable can be used to charge all the devices listed above, and existing power adapters for these devices would charge the iPhone quickly and provide at least 50% power in 30 minutes 80% performance within one hour.
