Security giant McAfee has unveiled the latest generation of its online protection suite, including a significant improvement in its native VPN offering.
The company says its new platform is in tune with the increasing work from home, offering business-oriented tools and services alongside the usual focus on the safety of individuals and consumers.
Together with an updated VPN service that offers easier access and protection from anti-malware devices via a central login, the new platform is intended to solve a number of problems that arise from users who increasingly work from home.
The company recently conducted research that found 375 new threats per minute due to an increase in fraudulent apps, phishing scams, and malware.
To fix this, McAfee WebAdvisor now warns you when you visit websites that can be used by cyber criminals to gain remote access to your PC. The company has also improved its machine learning capabilities to reduce the time it takes to detect emerging malware threats and improve protection against file-less threats.
McAfee also improved its social media protection after the company conducted further research that found that more than a quarter (27%) of social media users received a dubious link through social messaging services and another 20% fell victim to fake discounts or offers through social channels. Users also now have a clearer view of when mobile apps are requesting personal information. The data protection of the apps is now integrated into the main scan of Android devices.
“Now and with a view to the future, consumers will continue to need improved, integrated and intuitive protection for all aspects of their digital life – from work to shopping to studying and entertaining from home,” said Jesús Sanchez-Aguilera. Head of EMEA Consumer at McAfee.
“We are confident that our latest products will provide consumers with the right solutions to help them enjoy their connectivity and focus on what matters most to them – their family and friends.”
