Microsoft’s new Edge browser randomly crashes when users type in the address bar tonight. The issues appear to affect edge users who have chosen Google as their default search engine. Microsoft is aware of the issues and the company’s Edge team is investigating.
Microsoft recommends disabling search suggestions in edge: // settings / search. The edge has tested this workaround and will resolve the issue if you set Google as the default search engine.
Do you see an Edge crash when you try to type in the address bar? The team checks it! In the meantime, to work around this problem, deactivate the search suggestions here: edge: // settings / search. We̵7;ll follow up as soon as we have more!

The Microsoft Edge crashes started around 7:00 p.m. and it’s not clear why they’re limited to Google search users only. If you switch to Microsoft’s Bing search engine within Edge, the crashes will not occur.
We have asked Microsoft for more information about the issues and will update you accordingly.
