Microsoft’s Xbox Series S virtual press conference leaks online • Eurogamer.net

An Xbox virtual press conference leaked online.

The press conference, which includes the Xbox Series S console announcement, was published in four parts by an account called WalkingCat on Twitter.

It looks like this will be a virtual press conference that Microsoft wanted to show the media under embargo until next week when the company was planning to announce the Xbox Series S.

That plan was thrown out of the water earlier this week when the Xbox Series S was revealed on September 8, based on pictures and pricing information released by Thurrot and Windows Central.

At the time, WalkingCat posted a short video clip on Twitter showing the Xbox Series S. We now know that this clip is from the virtual press conference that was fully leaked today.

The morning after those leaks, Microsoft tweeted the Series S to its own devices and made a number of announcements, all of which are listed in today’s leaked virtual press conference.

It is unusual for virtual press conferences, usually attended by the press that have signed strict confidentiality agreements, to expire online this way. They are not intended for the public and are therefore usually less noticeable and more detailed than an event for consumers.

The four video clips tell nothing new. Phil Spencer and Co. talk a lot about the Xbox Series S, how it works and why it exists, as well as EA Play announcements for Xbox Game Pass, the expansion of Xbox All Access with the Xbox Series S, and all the other things which Microsoft announced this week after the first leak.

I can imagine that Redmond Sauron would have drawn attention to WalkingCat now, if it hadn’t already done so. Maybe it has to use one of its nine lives to survive. We asked Microsoft for a comment.
