Netflix and the people behind the hit movie came under fire for using real footage of the 2013 railway disaster to stage a nuclear attack on London. The tragedy killed 47 people in the city of Quebec when a freight train with 74 cars and crude oil was derailed, causing an explosion. Dozens of houses and buildings had to be demolished.
The mayor of Lac-Mégantic, Julie Morin, promised that Netflix would remove the material ̵
"Yes, there was a delay," said Morin, "but in the end, the important thing is that people have come to the conclusion that the situation was significant enough to calm down." It is expected that Netflix the footage over the next few weeks by cutouts from a television series worldwide replaced.
