Netflix's "Terrace House" is still the most soothing reality show – TechCrunch

"Terrace House" (a coproduction of Netflix and Fuji Television) is back and has not changed much since our review last year.

As in the previous seasons, "Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020" consists of six actors (three men and three women, mostly in their mid-20s), all living together in one house. Rather than producing competition or drama, most of the show allows everyone to lead their normal lives while exploring romance with their castmates.

In the latest episode of the original content podcast, we talk about our impressions of the new cast members. Then Anthony scolds Darrell (who has seen every episode) for why he continues to make the reality TV franchise so addictive.

Apparently it boils down to the formula working: It's a beautifully produced show with a sympathetic, attractive cast. And the producers continue to resist any temptation to adapt the drama to American television.

We also discuss the announcement by NBCUniversal that the upcoming streaming service will be called Peacock and will involve a restart of "Battlestar Galactica".
