Microsoft is currently investigating an authentication failure on its Office 365 systems.

“Starting at approximately 21

:25 UTC, a subset of customers in the Azure Public and Azure Government Clouds may experience errors performing authentication processes for a number of Microsoft / Azure services, including access to the Azure portals “, it says in a status post.

In another post, the company announced that users cannot access Office.com, Outlook.com, Teams, Power Platform, and Dynamics365.

“Existing customer sessions are not affected and anyone who is logged into an existing session can continue their sessions,” said Microsoft.

On its Twitter status account, Microsoft stated that the main cause appeared to be a recent change and that the company had decided to roll back the change.

“We rolled back the change that is likely causing the impact and are monitoring the environment to see if service is being restored,” the company said before tracking 14 minutes later that it did not see what it expected.

“We’re not seeing an increase in successful connections after we recently rolled back a change. We’re working on evaluating additional mitigation solutions while we investigate the root cause.”
