Paper Mario is the next step in Nintendo’s dominance for 2020

All eyes are on the highly anticipated Sony and Microsoft consoles, but Nintendo is the bigger winner of 2020. The announcement of Paper Mario: The Origami King just solidified that.

Nintendo is already well positioned, although the corona virus is causing a stir in the gaming industry – and the rest of the world. Its flagship Switch is currently the best-selling console. This is not surprising since PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have been in operation for a long time. The switch, which will now ship with the Lite-only handheld switch, will be one of the best-selling consoles in history with almost 56 million units sold as of March 2020.

Recently, Animal crossing: new horizons gave the switch another massive hit. The two-decade-old franchise has had unprecedented success with its previous titles and has become the fastest-selling game on the Switch. As a first-party IP and exclusive, this is a double boost for Nintendo.

7;s other games, in particular Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Mario Maker 2, will be shut down and will no longer provide updates. This leaves room for newer games like Game change and the upcoming Paper mario, which will hit the stores on July 17 to spotlight.

Paper Mario takes center stage

Paper mario is the latest addition to Nintendo’s 2020 versions. It might not be remarkable in another year. But in a barren time of gaming, Nintendo’s slate stands out with indie titles. New Horizons Updates, DLC for Pokémon: sword and Sign, the remaster of Xenoblade Chronicles, and other ports.

However, more remarkable than what Nintendo has released is how it announces this news. Nintendo’s now well-known Directs have already optimized the unveiling of the game. In the past 10 years, Nintendo has staged most of these recorded videos that will feature upcoming games, DLCs, consoles, and accessories.

Nintendo can focus on what’s really important: making games that people love.

It ushered in an era of global simulcasts in which players can see the news directly and respond immediately. Nintendo eventually adopted this model for the massive E3 gaming convention, and others have tried to emulate the model. Sony held a series of “state of play” presentations for smaller titles.

Still, Sony and Microsoft mostly stick to great personal presentations. Microsoft, for example, brazenly relied heavily on the E3 2020 for a heavy X-series showcase (before the event was canceled). Now it and other game companies are trying to adapt to a pure online world where Nintendo is already shining.

But for Paper mario, Nintendo dropped the Direct completely. It is a strategy that the Japanese game company has used regularly, but it remains a smart one. With this straightforward approach, Nintendo can focus on what’s really important: making games love.

Games are as important as consoles

This goal is a key principle paper Mario. Doug Bowser, President of Nintendo of America, has expressed his longing to create a barn with games that can reach any type of player or age.

Paper mario is a family-friendly game that seems to promise a strong repeatability factor. This is nothing new to Nintendo, which offers far more family-friendly games than its counterparts for consoles and PCs. This is currently a major advantage. Children are stuck at home while school is over.

This puts Nintendo in an excellent position without damaging a model that worked well for it. It relies on its successful IP, Mario, which makes the game a safe bet.

Nintendo continues Game change wave as Sony and Microsoft prepare to release next-generation high-end consoles amid one of the worst economic downturns in U.S. history. Both Microsoft and Sony have confirmed that the X and PS5 series will continue to ship on the expected 2020 vacation schedule. In terms of exclusive intellectual property, however, this remains a mystery just a few months before publication, with the exception of Halo Infinite.

In the meantime, the switch costs $ 300, and the Switch Lite is affordable at $ 200. For those still on the console market, the Switch is a much better option than a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, which may cost more than double. The Switch already offers an extensive library that can be easily accessed via its eShop.

What better hype could Nintendo wish for than a surprise Paper mario Announcement that players were buzzing without the flash and pomp of a formal video pitch that needs to be taken apart by their own fans?
