Sony has announced the next phase of next-generation console marketing push. A new PlayStation 5 Showcase event is scheduled for Wednesday September 16 at 2000 UTC.
Sid Shuman, Senior Director at SIE Content Communications, posted the event and some of the content we can expect on the PlayStation official blog:
“Before PlayStation 5 kicks off this holiday, we just wanted to take a look at some of the great games that will be available on PS5 at launch (and beyond!).
“Our next digital storefront will take approximately 40 minutes and will contain updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.
“Tune in live on Twitch or YouTube this Wednesday, September 16 at 1 p.m. PDT / 9 p.m. BST / 10 p.m. CEST to see what’s next for the PS5.”
What will be seen at the event is a mystery at the moment, especially since Sony’s last event brought more than just a few surprises. This event was opened with a first glance Gran Turismo 7. It also closed with a first look at the console and the announcement of a fully digital version.
As indicated, we can expect to see some new information about some of the first-time suppliers of “PlayStation Studios” and this could include more information Gran Turismo 7. What fans are really hoping for, however, is a date and a price.
In what appeared to be a year-old chicken game, Microsoft finally blinked last week and dropped a big surprise too. Xbox announced that the Series X would arrive on November 10, with pre-orders on September 22, and priced at $ 499. It also presented the entry-level S series for the same dates but at a staggering $ 299 price.
All eyes are now on Sony for an answer and the timing of that event certainly seems to fit the bill. The event begins on September 16 at 2000 UTC and will be broadcast live on the PlayStation channels YouTube and Twitch.
