Pokémon Go Charmander Community Day Guide: Best Movesets and Start Time

Pokémon Go Charmander celebrates again with another Community Day.

The event will take place on October 17th from 11am to 5pm in your local time.

As is common with Community Day events, Charmander will spawn in abundance during the six hour period, with a high chance of appearing shiny.

How do I get a Shiny Charmander?

Since Charmander is popping up all over the place, just tap on each Charmander you see until you get a shiny one. You’ll find one sooner or later as the Shiny rate increases to around one in 24 on Community Days.

What special move does Charizard learn?

When Charizard is developed on October 17th, 11am to 7pm in your local time, it will learn Dragon breath. Dragon Breath doesn’t do much for Charizard, but he is very good at his Mega Evolved forms.

How can I get the most out of this Community Day?

Stardust obtained from catching Pokémon during the event period is tripled. So if you have star pieces, be sure to use those before going on a Charmander catching rampage. Completion of field research and timed research will also reward Charizard Mega Energy.

The best moveset from Regular Charizard for raids and gyms is Turn fire and move the legacy Explosion fire. However, if you plan to mega-evolve your Charizard, evolve it during the event to maintain it Dragon breath. Combine it with Dragon claw do quite a bit of damage.

When deciding which Shiny Charmander to upgrade at the end of the day, use one of the new search strings. Sort your mons byrecently“Use the icon at the bottom right and enter”4 *”In the search box above. This will tell you whether you have a 100% IV Charmander. Most people won’t be that lucky, so next you want to “3 *”In the search box that shows all current mons that are 80% or more. Rate these to see which one is best, then develop your new buddy further!
