Fans fainted when Poe Dameron introduced himself to Rey at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and now we know whom to thank: Jurassic World Director Colin Trevorrow .
With The Rise of Skywalker in less than a month, it's easy to forget August 15, 2015 . This was the day Disney named Colin Trevorrow director of Star Wars Episode IX. The announcement came several weeks after the first news about Trevorrow's commitment to the film came, which meant he'd probably been working on it for a while.
For some reason, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was not even seen in theaters in the summer of 201
Like Johnson's little favor to help his film, Trevorrow's plea occurred at the end of Episode VIII.
"I only asked Rian if he may involve a small moment here Rey and Poe meet for the first time, "Trevorrow said to Empire . "They are such beloved characters that it was right for them to have some history in the next movie, I thought he did it perfectly."
And of course we know from Rise of Skywalker Trailers That Poe and Rey Spend Time Together In The Film To Do What? Well, That Remains A Puzzles.
Trevorrow left Episode IX in 2017 and was eventually drafted by Abrams However, enough of Trevorrow's DNA remains in the film that he and his co-author Derek Connolly honor the authors Abrams and Chris Terrio. "I'm JJ for accepting some of our ideas, "said Trevorrow. "It's exciting that the fans see the moments that felt important to us all."
One moment that Trevorrow did not think about when developing the film was the idea of bringing the Emperor back. He fully attributes this to Abrams.
"Bringing back the Emperor was an idea, J.J. brought to the table when he came aboard, "Trevorrow said. "It's honestly something I never thought of, I recommend it for it, this was a difficult story, and he found the key."
Whether this key works or not, we'll all know in a few weeks. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will open on December 20th.
