I will say one thing for personal events: you forced companies to bring in a lot of news. When you ask an auditorium full of people to travel from all over the country or around the world, you want to give them big bang for their buck.
Samsung did that with its Galaxy Note event in early August. We have a new phone, new earbuds, a new watch, a new tablet and a preview of an upcoming leaflet. A few weeks ago, the company dedicated a whole second event to the new fold. And now, a few weeks later, we are staring at another event.
The September 23 event will likely focus on the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, which has been buzzing around in leaks for a few months as Samsung devices usually do. I̵
However, the so-called “Fan Edition” shows that the company is picking up on a long-abandoned trend of issuing cheaper alternatives to flagship devices (especially an outdated version of the Note 7).
Here it seems to be a cheaper version of Samsung’s most important flagship, the Galaxy S20. In terms of sound, the device is essentially a rebranding of its “Lite” line – the latest iteration of an already confusing approach to its budget flagship offerings.
We’ll learn more September 23 at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET.
