When the hugely popular messaging app for the workplace first revealed to Slack that she would trade a splashing windmill with her wonderfully unique hashtag logo, I found a silver lining anyway. "At least it has this beautiful purple background," I thought to myself when I saw for the first time that the new icon appeared on my Android phone.
But Slack seems to make the logo seem as generic as possible Maybe also because today instead of purple is replaced by a white background.
Same as half the other apps on my phone.
Incredibly, Slack says the move should make it easier to recognize the Slack app:
Starting today, your Slack Mobile App icon changes from purple to white. This should make the display on your device a little easier. To update, visit the Google Play or Apple App Store.

To which I say:
Yes, definitely less confusing.
It does not look like Apple's standard photo app, I'm sure.
But I think it's a bit harder now to spot the hidden swastika of the Slack logo in negative territory.
Bottom right bottom, you can see Slack's phone logo as it was temporarily on phones. I will miss the purple.
