In addition to releasing the price tags for PlayStation 5 for $ 399 and $ 499 and the November 12 release date, Sony also announced how much the various accessories for the upcoming console will cost.
The main price point is that of Sony’s new DualSense controller, which costs $ 69.99 for additional gamepads. That’s a $ 10 increase over the MSRP of $ 59.99 for the DualShock 4 – apparently, all of the fancy haptic feedback technologies and adaptive triggers Sony adds aren’t cheap. The charging station, which can be used to charge two DualSense controllers at the same time, costs $ 29.99.
The Pulse 3D wireless headset, which supports Sony’s big push for 3D audio, is $ 99.99 while the PlayStation 5’s media remote is $ 29.99.
Finally, the HD camera, which has dual 1080p lenses and allows gamers to stream directly from the PlayStation 5 alongside the streamed gameplay, costs $ 59.99. The dual lens system seems to suggest that Sony has ambitions to use the new camera for VR applications at some point, although it’s not clear whether the new camera will work with the existing PlayStation VR headset. (Sony’s accessories for the PlayStation 5 seem to suggest that only the Playstation 4’s camera will work for the current PSVR, and promises that they will offer a free adapter for customers in the future.)
The various PlayStation 5 accessories are expected to be released alongside the console on November 12th.
