Sony has announced its Xperia 5 II, a toned down version of the Xperia 1 II with some additional features that make it attractive in the current smartphone market. Currently, the phone is only available in the US and UK and is priced at $ 949 and € 899, respectively. There is no word yet about India’s takeoff.
The smartphone has a 6.1-inch Full HD + OLED with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch scan rate of 240 Hz, resulting in a superior gaming experience. The aspect ratio of the new Xperia phone is 21: 9 and it supports HDR with 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, which can be deactivated in the settings.
The Sony Xperia 5 II runs on the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor instead of the latest Snapdragon 865+. It is coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 1 TB via a microSDXC card.
The Sony Xperia 5 II kept the headphone jack, which we don’t see on every flagship phone. It is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging. Sony claims it can be charged to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. However, wireless charging is not supported.

On the back there is a triple camera with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and two other 12-megapixel cameras with an ultra-wide-angle lens. On the front there is an 8MP snapper in the top bezel. There is no fingerprint scanner on the screen. Instead, the scanner sits on the side between a customizable Google Assistant button and a trigger at the bottom.
The phone looks very compact due to its 6.1-inch screen and size of only 163 grams. In the audio department, it has two front speakers with DSEE Ultimate for an enhanced experience. It also has Dolby Atmos support and IP65 / 68 water resistance.
