Tesla owners can feel less bad about leaving their pooch in their car.
On Wednesday, the car maker rolled out the "dog mode" through a software update, a feature that keeps the air conditioner running and notifies passers-by that your pet is okay through the center screen.
In dog mode, the vehicle's center screen displays the cabin temperature and a message stating that "my owner will be back soon."
The idea came last year from a Twitter user who asked Elon Musk if he could implement the feature in future cars. It's pretty neat, we have to say.
Here are Tesla's instructions on how to enable "Dog Mode" according to the Release Notes.
To turn on Dog Mode, tap the fan icon at the bottom of the touchscreen when your vehicle is parked. Set "Climate On" to "DOG", make adjustments within the temperature limits, and then let it know that your pet is comfortable. Dog mode stays on when you leave your car. If your battery is less than 20% charged, you will receive a notification via your mobile app.
It should be noted that some jurisdictions have laws in which pets are left unattended in vehicles. So be careful if you might break them.
Tesla has also introduced a new security feature called "Sentry Mode". When the vehicle is turned on, it enters a standby mode, constantly monitoring its environment with external cameras.
When a minimal threat is detected, such as someone leaning against the car, it switches to an "alarm mode". This activates the center screen, which displays a warning message that the cameras of the vehicle are being recorded.
When a more serious event occurs, such as As a broken window, the alarm is triggered, the middle screen is brighter and the audio system of the vehicle is played maximum volume.
Owners are notified via the Tesla Mobile App. If a formatted USB drive is connected before Sentry mode is activated, video recording can be retrieved.
You must enable the feature each time you want to use it. To do this, go to Control Panel> Security> Sentry Mode in your center screen. Very cool […] […] very cool. […] […] […]] very cool.
