“Family Setup gives your children or older parents greater independence and you can be sure they are just a phone call away,” said Deidre Caldbeck, director of Apple Watch, during the event.
With Family Setup, Apple Watch users who don’t have an iPhone can still use features such as Emergency SOS, Maps, Siri, FaceTime, Alarms and the App Store – provided their watch has a cellular plan. Kids can use their Apple Watch to track their movements, activities, and create an emoji watch face. With more students studying remotely this year, a new school-time mode helps kids stay focused by setting the clock to do not disturb. Parents can schedule school hours at specific times or their child can turn them on via the clock’s control center.
Parental controls let you control which contacts your children can communicate with when using iMessage and FaceTime. You can also set up automatic location notifications to keep track of your family members and content restrictions when downloading apps.
A cellular version of the is required for the Family Setupor later. It will also be available on the new one , also announced Tuesday.
