The next iPad Air is like nothing before (which is something of its own in the world of iPad Air models). But if you̵
Of course, we know it’s due sometime this month because Apple said so, but those who thought the release date would be announced at this week’s iPhone 12 event (and I was one of them) have been proven wrong .
Now, MyHealthyApple.com has tweeted that a new Apple tablet has been approved by the FCC. This would surely be the Wifi + Cellular version of the iPad Air, and it certainly suggests that the release is imminent.
Let’s do the math: Apple likes to release its products on a Friday, and since there are only two Fridays left in October after this week, only October 23rd and 30th remain.
Hmm The first of these is the iPhone 12 Day, so it’s possible Apple doesn’t want to distract from what would make the following Friday, October 30th, a favorite.
But this is far from a normal year, and I have a feeling Apple wants to get the iPad Air tablets to market as soon as possible.
After all, this is a radical upgrade with an all-screen front and Touch ID in the power button, which of course means no notch. It has the fastest processor Apple has ever made, the A14 Bionic, which can also be found in the new iPhone 12 series. Oh, and it comes in a range of scorchingly attractive colors.
So why delay?
Add in the rumor that Best Buy’s Canadian website lists October 23 as its release date and that this magical date seems hard to refute.
If that’s true, pre-orders have to start soon, right? They launch on October 16 for the iPhone 12, so the Apple website might post a similar date for the iPad Air in the coming hours.
It can’t be long now, and there seems to be some pent-up craze for the new tablet, so initial demand will likely be high.
So keep your eyes open No, stop by here: I will stay tuned to this story so I can update you right away.
