The best 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players you can buy now

Netflix and Amazon may now offer 4K streaming options, but if you're still looking for the best uncompressed image quality for your movie sessions, consider investing in a UHD Blu-ray player.

The world could be satisfied with streaming video and dismissing physical disks as relics of a bygone age, no consumer video stream can match the quality of a 4K Blu-ray at the moment.

What's more, if you're into a top-grade TV like the LG C8 OLED, then it deserves some 4K Blu-ray pampering.

In the year 2018, the "4K" control for Blu-ray players has largely gone as well. While our favorite decks are still expensive, there are affordable choices when budget is tight. Most also support 4K Netflix, which is not always available on 4K TVs.

This means you can enjoy your high-resolution Blu-rays and streaming content from Netflix, Amazon and Google Play TV & Movies. Which 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player should you choose?

What else do I have to do to watch a UHD Blu-ray player?

For a true 4K experience, you'll need to use a 4K memory Blu-ray player, a 4K Blu-ray Disc and of course a 4K TV to watch it. Do not you have the last one? Read our guide to the best 4K TV.

If you do not have a 4K TV, your 4K Blu-ray player will still work, but it will only display 1

080p images. If you buy a normal Blu-ray instead of a 4K version, it will still play in a 3840 × 2160 resolution, but it's not a native 4K image, which is very different from Ultra HD Blu-ray different.

1. Panasonic DMP-UB700

Vision Support

The Panasonic DMP-U700 is the 4K Blu-ray player we recommend the most. It's less expensive than an Oppo deck, yet offers the amazing picture quality of Panasonic's top-end DMP-U900.

Support for streaming services with HDR-enabled 4K Netflix software is worth the trumping visit, and the player performs a swell job with 24-bit audio. It supports both FLAC and DSD files.

There is no support for Dolby Vision, perhaps the main reason for upgrading to the DMP-UB900. As it stands, the UB700 offers the best balance between price, audiovisual performance and features.

Oppo makes the best Blu-ray Player the world. Or made we should say. Oppo announced that it would stop producing headphones and Blu-rays at the beginning of the year.

The Oppo UDP-203 may be the most expensive Blu-ray player on this list, but you might want to take one as long as you can.

It supports a full suite of video and audio formats, including the niche SACD, and has three HDMI ports (one for video and audio, one for audio, and one that serves as an HDMI passthrough).

It even supports the premium standard Dolby Vision HDR, which is still a rarity for gamers.

Unfortunately, Oppo does not support streaming services like Netflix, but if you want a premium disc player (at premium price), that's for you. It is of particular interest to audiophiles.
